Ombuds Support: Safeguarding Fairness, Respect, and Inclusivity in your Organization

People expect organizations to be fair, respectful, and inclusive. Despite even the best of intentions, actions taken in the name of your organization can leave people with concerns about how decisions were arrived at, how they were implemented, or the resulting impact. Most organizations are ill-equipped to effectively prevent or respond to such concerns quickly and informally. The result?

ProActive Ombuds Services provides people with access to a team of impartial, third-party experts who are available to confidentially discuss concerns and explore options for resolution. The ProActive Ombuds Team connects with people confidentially, and in a timely way, using a range of platforms including email, messaging services, video conferencing, and phone. We help people get clarity on their concerns, point them to relevant policies and internal resources, and explore resolution options. Our approach emphasizes the value of informal resolution where appropriate, with a focus on both individual and institutional well-being.

Supporting organizational outcomes

The ProActive Ombuds Team supports your senior leaders in fostering a fair, respectful and inclusive organizational climate and culture. In appropriate contexts, we’ll report back on trends and patterns in cases, identifying systemic vulnerabilities and providing recommendations to better prevent problems – all while maintaining confidentiality for individuals. We are also available to conduct case reviews and audits of systems, processes, policies and procedures. We’ll even help you develop your own in-house Ombuds program.

Support for a High-Performance Leader

Leaders don’t lead in a vacuum — sometimes leadership development is as much about improving alignment as it is about competency-building. ProActive’s Structured Coaching is designed to drive alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, values and strategic priorities, as well as the leader’s own manager, while building critical leadership competencies.

How it Works

ProActive Structured Coaching consists of 12 Coaching Sessions, each focusing on understanding and applying a specific principle or practice. Importantly, the 12 Coaching Sessions only start after the coach, the leader and the leader’s boss collaborate in the creation of a Coaching Plan – a map of the desired outcomes, steps, and measures.

The Coaching Plan then guides the structure of the 12 Coaching Sessions and also provides the framework for ongoing assessment and alignment.

Support when there is a potential RISK OF VIOLANCE

Many employers have done excellent work preparing managers and employees to keep themselves safe during inherently dangerous events such as fires, earthquakes, and even physical attacks.

Unfortunately, many of those same organizations are not well equipped to respond effectively when people raise concerns that an individual might be at risk of committing an act of workplace violence in the near future. They do not have any framework, systems, tools or resources for receiving relevant information in a specific case, for making sense of that information, or for making consistent, defensible decisions about the steps, if any, they need to take in order to keep people safe.
