WELCOME

Welcome to our regular and new subscribers.

In all sorts of circumstances, when we cannot figure out how to come together and understand others, we seem to be capable of unbelievable treachery.

And yet when we have the opportunity to engage and learn from others, we're also capable of the most amazing generosity.

In our latest news story Big ideas in restorative justice we ask how civility and generosity are possible when confronted by those who are responsible for our worst nightmare.

Your feedback on this edition of ProActive Voice and what you would like to see in future editions are welcome.

Simply email ProActive ReSolutions to let us know your feedback.

You are also welcome to forward ProActive Voice to your friends and colleagues.

Kind Regards,

John McDonald

Big ideas in restorative justice

Michael was 18 years old, one of three children and an excellent student. He was walking home from school football training when he was hit by a car driven by Peter. Michael died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.

Peter was 25 years old and had been at the local pub celebrating a birthday with friends. As he drove home from the pub drunk, he veered off the road and hit Michael. Peter was jailed for three years.

Just prior to his release from jail, a Restorative Justice Conference was convened involving Peter, his family and friends, and the family and friends of Michael.
